I would like to briefly introduce myself.
My name is Christophe Castagne.
I’m the President and CEO of Latitude.
I was born in France in 1970, and at a very young age, I left my native country and embarked upon a journey which would bring many wonderful new life experiences my way.
After spending 18 years in Africa’s Ivory Coast, 4 years in the United States, and 8 years in Japan, I decided to start my own wine importation company and launch my own wine label.
I have been coming to Japan off and on since the late 80’s. During the past 14 years, my experiences as a freelance consultant/coordinator and wine expert, have given me the opportunity to reach every segment of the Japanese market pertinent to wine distribution.
To name but a few activities, it has been my pleasure to be intimately involved in said arena via seminars, private demonstrations, participation in international and local events, and department store promotional exhibitions. In essence, involvement in these things has enabled me to accrue a vital, deep understanding of wine distribution patterns in Japan, and develop a clear view of the inherent strengths, weaknesses, and what I believe to be massive future potential for wine importation to Japan.
